FAQ

Who is Home Harmony Assessment for?

Most of my clients have environmental sensitivities. However, Home Harmony Assessment can benefit anyone who wants to optimize their sense of well-being with a home environment that supports them rather than holding them back.

What should I know before requesting an assessment?

A few important considerations:

  • The photos should be as recent as possible. If they were taken a long time ago, the building’s environment could have changed by now. If the initial assessment appears promising, the next step is to get current photos for follow-up assessment (which is free).
  • Photos should show all the rooms and areas inside a building. Sometimes buildings will have problems localized to a certain area.
  • When testing outdoors air, the photos are just a snapshot in time. Sometimes an outdoor environment can shift based on wind direction, weather conditions, season, or other factors. If outdoor air quality is a concern, please find outdoor photos from different times of year and showing different weather conditions. Updated outdoor photos are also included in the free follow-up assessment.
  • Please avoid photos that are heavily altered or Photoshopped. This alters the energetic frequency information, which can affect assessment.
  • Please avoid sending videos. They can be blurry when paused, which can make it difficult to thoroughly assess all areas of the building. However, if you only have a video, I usually can still work with it.

How does the Home Harmony Assessment compare to the ERMI test?

As shown before, Home Harmony Assessment costs less, is more accessible, and can be more timely than the ERMI test.

The ERMI test, which is often favored among commonly available mold tests, has its limitations.

There can be false positives. This happens in older homes that have had a lot of time to accumulate mold spores and DNA in the dust, for example from mold-contaminated items being brought inside. This doesn’t mean that the house itself has an active mold problem. But the ERMI score may be elevated.

There can also be issues with false negatives. In newer buildings that have been very intensively cleaned, there is very little dust to sample, so the ERMI can come back low even if the building has mold issues.

What are the limitations of this assessment?

I do my best, but any test is subject to a potential low rate of human error.

Please be advised that Home Harmony Assessment is not meant to be the only tool used when deciding to buy or rent a home. The assessment is meant as guidance to help identify more promising options, saving your energy, time, and money from shooting in the dark. Please still do your due diligence with visiting prospective homes, seeing how you feel there, and considering further inspection and testing.
